A view of Australia from fine leg

The humble, self-effacing, Craig now describes himself as a 41-year-old balding cricketer well past his prime; a former first grade player who was “a boring and methodic off-spinner”, handy enough but no world beater. He preferred to […]

Vale Craig Cook

Our great friend CRAIG COOK lost his fight with cancer this week. He passed on September 7 surrounded by his family. He was always very humble about his achievements. One of his finest moments came as Carlton CC’s vice president when he lured Abdul Qadir to Princess Park in 1998, the Pakistani spin legend taking 72 […]

Ricky Ponting

After retiring from a career as one of the world’s best cricketers, Ricky has now joined the board of the Ponting Foundation. Off the field, since 2002 Ricky and his wife Rianna have raised in excess of $10 million to help young Australians and their families beat cancer. In 2008 Ricky and Rianna established the Ponting Foundation to provide focus to their fundraising efforts.

In 2012 Ricky was appointed as an Officer in the General Division of the Order of Australia (AO); not only for his extraordinary cricketing achievements, but also for his distinguished service to the community through the establishment of the Ponting Foundation.

We are honoured to have Ricky as our patron with the Australian Cricket Society
