Our first 2020 guest of honour is BEN OLIVER, Australian cricket’s new general manager for national teams.

Ben is a Geelong boy through-and-through, with a wealth of playing and high performance experience on both sides of the country.

He is in his first year at Jolimont, having previously excelled in his roles in Western Australia, not only at Sheffield Shield level but also with the Perth Scorchers which won three titles in a row during his time.

At Geelong where he made 49 not out on debut (having just turned 17), Ben played 68 first XI games, his progress halted by a succession of injuries.

He was just 21 when first selected for Victoria against the West Indies, Brian Lara, Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Ramnaresh Sarwan among his first major wickets

By 23 his major rep career was over. He played for both Victoria and Tasmania.
