Brad Hodge is Victoria’s most capped cricketer, a fabulous batsman who extended his career into his 40s at Twenty20 level and now coaches regularly in the Indian Premier League.
His long-time coach Greg Shipperd says Hodge is the finest Victorian cricketer of his generation, ahead of anyone even Shane Warne.
Hodge represented Australia in six Tests, his feats including a double-century in Perth. He was almost 40 when he played his last Twenty20 international in Aussie colours.
A Sandringham boy who amassed almost 1000 runs as a teenager in his first season of Sheffield Shield, Hodge made more runs and notched more 100s than any Victorian player including the legends from Ponny to Bill Lawry.
He is just back from India, having coached the likes of Chris Gayle and Aaron Finch for the Kings XI, Punjab.
