The Australian Cricket Society is pleased to announce that Jim Maxwell will be our special guest at our Boxing Day Test Dinner.
Jim started at the ABC in 1973, becoming their most experienced commentator. He has also edited Australia’s longest-running cricket publication, The ABC Cricket Magazine, since 1988, as well as being the author of several cricket books, including The First Sixty Years, The Ashes from Bodyline to Waugh and Stumps, an anecdotal account of his experiences following the Australian team. His latest, The Sound of Summer, is a deep insight into one of our best-loved commentators, and a fascinating, warm, nostalgic and uniquely informed view of the game he loves.
Since 2009 Jim has been the president of the Primary Club of Australia, a cricketing-based charity providing sporting and recreational facilities for people with disabilities. Since 2013 he has also been President of Eastern Suburbs Cricket Club. In February 2021, Sport Australia honoured Jim with the Lifetime Achievement Award for Sports Journalism at the 19th annual Sport Australia Media Awards.
The Australian Cricket Society is extremely pleased to have Jim Maxwell as our special guest for this function. The Boxing Day Test Dinner will be held at Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club on Tuesday, 27th December, commencing at 7pm. Please note that Parking is available in the car park north of the Kooyong Stadium, between the Stadium and Monash Freeway. It is a short walk along Glenferrie Road to the main Clubhouse entrance.
A two-course meal, plus drinks, are included in the ticket price which is $115 for ACS members & partners and $125 for non-members. Bookings and monies need to be with ACS Secretary, Wayne Ross, no later than 20th December. Payments can be made by cheque, direct deposit or by Tyro transaction.
