Prior to the advent of the veterans’ cricket competition here in Victoria, the ACS Wandering XI was the mainstay of the Society’s playing operations. However, the situation has changed rapidly with Over 50s, 60s and 70s competitions thriving to such an extent that we are struggling to field teams for a number of our games and have had to resort to recruit players from our 60s and 70s teams. This has proved extremely difficult when Wandering XI games clash with those of our other teams.
There is a need to have someone take over the running of the Wandering XI, ensuring that we are able to field representative teams. This will involve fixturing, recruitment and selection.
While this sounds rather formidable, we do have people and systems which can assist in the tasks to be undertaken.
