ACS cricketers look forward to another great season of cricket in 2017-18 playing 28 games in all. Our Wandering X1 plays on some of the loveliest grounds in the cricketing world including games against the MCC 29ers, the Lords Taverners, and the Suma Park Bellarinas. Back by popular demand are games against the Eccentrics and the Asylum Seekers.

Our O60s play 12 games on Sundays in 2017-18. Then there’s the possibility of trial games, zone games, and even mid-week games. Most games are played on turf with Elsternwick Park No:2 the home ground for several fixtures.

Attached is the ACS 2017-18 fixture with venues for 6 games still to be confirmed. Games are graded in an attempt to match the age and competitiveness of our opponents. While there is some crossover, games are divided into Invitation X1*, Over 40s and O60s Games.
There’s a special invitation to any new ACS member. While ACS 60-year-olds can nominate for Wandering X1 games, priority in selection will be given to 40 – 59-year-olds and members who’ve recently joined the Society.

Nineteen ACS members were selected in Victorian teams competing at  Australian O60s and O70s Championships in November. They’ll be given every chance to impress the selectors in the early games of the season.

Members can register interest in playing up to ten (10) games with either our Wandering X1 or our O60s in 2017-18. While our managers will endeavor to accommodate choices, there is no guarantee of selection for any fixture. However, once the season is underway and the availability of players clearer, you may well be offered extra games.

Ken Piesse will manage our Wandering X1 and Peter Flack our O60s this season. If you’d like to play for the ACS, mark the games you’re interested in on the attachment and forward it to veteranscricket.vic@gmail.com or return email. Should you be selected for a game, it’s essential you honor the commitment.

ACS outdoor practice starts this Sunday, September 17 and 24 and October 1 from 9.00am at Ivanhoe Oval, Wamba Rd, East Ivanhoe (Melway 31 H9)

Extra practice for ACS Over 60 players is also available at Dendy Park, Breen Drive, E Brighton (Melway 77 A2) on Thursday mornings from 10 am.
