Our guest of honour, Bushrangers head coach Andrew ‘Ronnie’ McDonald had a distinguished decade as a player highlighted by silverware with the Vics and four Tests for Australia.
A genuine all-rounder, he was a pivotal player in Victoria’s run of silverware under Greg Shipperd from the early 2000s, his aggressive batting complemented by his considerable reverse swing skills. Andrew played in three wins out of four for Australia, including the infamous Sydney Test 2009, Matthew Hayden’s last, where Simon Katich revisited the old days of wrestle-mania by placing Michael Clarke in a dressing room head lock still remembered today.
Ronnie led the mighty Big V to the 2016-17 Shield at the Alice and is in charge again as the Vics attempts to rival a little of New South Wales’ history from the ‘50s and ‘60s and win a fourth consecutive Shield title. He will be speaking to us just after the conclusion of the second of Victoria’s new-season Shield games
