With great sadness, we have been informed of the passing of ACS Committee Member Mike Rose earlier this week. He passed away Monday following a short, but cruel illness.  Mike, like all of us, was a Cricket Tragic, enjoying travel and involvement in our great game, and who was still Umpire in the Victoria’s Premier Competition.

He also had a passionate Melbourne Football Club, and was an MCC Member.

Our President Ken Piesse remembers Mike was umpiring as recently as last month in Echuca at the Over 60s championships. At one stage he sat down, obviously distressed and we suggested to him that he go off. ‘No way,’ he said. ‘Just need some water.’ And he continued for both innings of our match.

He enjoyed cricket memorabilia, books and treasures. and for the last three years he acted as our merchandise officer and was always one of the first attendees at committee.  He believed in our charters, particularly our championing of young boys and girls in their development towards higher-level cricket.

Our Condolences to Wife Maree and the Rose Family #RIPMIke we’ll miss you
